Between May 9 and 13, 2022, a delegation of AmChams in Europe executives and other AmCham representatives from more than 30 countries in Europe and Eurasia attended the annual U.S. Conference in Washington, DC, and Raleigh, North Carolina, to visit state officials, governmental institutions, and some of the most prominent companies and universities. AmChams in Europe acts as a bilateral voice of American and European companies, committed to promoting transatlantic cooperation in Europe and the United States. In this respect, the conference facilitates diverse fora for discussion on current world affairs and the latest trends in politics and business.

In the U.S. capital, the delegation met up with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Departments of State and Commerce, the U.S. Congress, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and attended a reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in view of the upcoming European conference in Sofia. Together with the International Trade Administration, they launched EMPOWER HER, an initiative for the empowerment of women in trade on both sides of the Atlantic. In the second part of the conference, the delegation was greeted at the North Carolina Executive Mansion in Raleigh, where they met with the regional business, education, and government leaders. They continued with visits to the SAS Institute, Duke University, NC State University, and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

The delegation identified some global challenges, promoting even closer international cooperation to address them. They discussed how the world has had to contend with the combined effects of a multi-year pandemic, inflation, interstate conflict, supply chain issues, and an energy shortage. The war in Ukraine and the sanctions on Russia have highlighted the significance of more robust and resilient supply chains. Finally, our role as business representatives is to elucidate and promote the benefits of global trade.
